In December 2023, My Energy Consultants were presented with an award for ‘Consultancy of the Year – Large’ at the prestigious The Energy Live Consultancy Awards (TELCA). The win was based on an interview style case study presented to judges, detailing work carried out for the UK operations of a global flavour manufacturer, producing ingredients found in global products.
The questions posed focused on ethical standards, supporting the journey to net zero and working with the team at My Energy Consultants.
The selected customer has strict procurement processes, which include rigid compliance guidelines that all suppliers must evidence they adhere to. Of twelve prospective companies, My Energy Consultants (MEC) were the sole company to pass this process. Once on board, MEC were found to offer greater transparency and more expertise in all aspects of the working relationship than consultancies previously engaged in this capacity.
The customers Procurement Director stated in the case study; “My Energy Consultants have always been very transparent when it comes to sharing data with us. They are also happy to bring suppliers into discussions for open dialogue. This is fairly unique as most brokers I have historically worked with prefer to keep their suppliers at bay.”
MEC have supported this customer extensively on their journey towards net zero by working in parallel on all green energy projects. Reviewing a recent solar power project, MEC advised the proposal being considered was based on old technology. The subsequent recommendations resulted in optimised, more efficient tech being deployed, cost savings on the overall projects implementation and a far shorter ROI.
MEC also supported a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) initiative. This project balanced the manufacturers power while also supporting local energy infrastructure. This aspect was key as their operations are one of the biggest consumers of energy in the geographical area. MEC were consulted throughout this project, saved money, and avoided ongoing, unnecessary network costs.
By analysing data and identifying areas of high consumption, My Energy Consultants also assisted in optimising usage at one of their clients’ effluent plants. By adapting the method for chemical waste processing and monitoring consumption data, the manufacturer reduced consumption and made further cost savings.
